I now live in the house I grew up in as a child. I recently went for a walk up to the local park on sunset and realised that remnants of my youth were still visible. It is a tragic story (not sad) but my partner of many years is also a neighbourhood boy, so we have come full circle. We look back at the suburban childhood we experienced as a rich and fun time full of wild kids and adventures. It is its own type of cultural history, not a glamorous or intellectual one but our games and imaginings spurred us on with confidence to bigger things in a wider world.
